Religion is Evil

Argh. Just woke up from a nap. I seriously needed that after this week. Work has sucked pretty hard-core ass all week, and I'm drained. Kim keeps calling and asking me questions, and whenever any of HER vendors call to ask about something, she gives them my new phone #. Today someone from Cal-Ark, a trucking company called asking if we had a shipment scheduled for next Tuesday. She would have had to call Kim first to even get my new office number, and when the lady from Cal-Ark asked, I said, "Kim couldn't tell you? I don't work over in that department anymore and am not checking schedules, she is. If you need to know if there is a pick-up for next Tuesday, you need to call her back and have her check. I'm sorry, but I seriously have no idea since I am no longer checking schedule." Argh. Multiply this by three time a day, five days a week. If I keep doing her job for her, she'll never learn.

Here is a little piece of journalism that made me violently ill- from the New York Times: "The first reports sounded like an over-the-top satire of the Bush Pentagon: the deputy secretary of defense for intelligence - the ranking general charged with the hunt for Osama bin Laden - was parading in uniform to Christian pulpits, preaching that God had put George Bush in the White House and that Islamic terrorists will only be defeated "if we come at them in the name of Jesus." But now a Pentagon inquiry has concluded that Lt. Gen. William Boykin did indeed preach his grossly offensive gospel at 23 churches, pronouncing Satan the mastermind of the terrorists because "he wants to destroy us as a Christian army."

WHAT THE FUCK!?!?! These are the people that are leading our soldiers into battle!?! It reminded me of something I read a while back when someone had contacted a cousin of Bush, and she said that he (her cousin, our president) indeed feels like this is a religious war. Coupling that with his constant referal to the radical insurgents as "evil doers", can anyone still question why the Islamic world hates us? Religion is and has been the cause of more bloodshed on this planet than any other ten things put together. People look to Religion to answer their questions, but what has religion done to the human race? It has pitted us against each other- all sides thinking they are right, while the rest of the world is wrong. The Egyptians enslaved the Jews (as did the Romans) and Hitler tried to wipe them off the face of the earth- simply because of their belief system. In the middle ages, Europe waged 3 huge "crusades" to take back the Middle East from the muslims. Every single terrorist act is linked to radical Islamic beliefs- Abortion Clinic bombings are all tied to radical Christian groups, as are skinheads and neo-nazis. Gays have been beaten and killed because their lifestyle doesn't fit within the strict rules laid out in the Bible, and our President, the good christian that he is, wants to pass a Constitutional Amendment that makes it illigal for them to get married in this country. The world would be a much better place if people actually opened their eyes and stopped to think for themselves for a minute or two, istead of blindly believing what has been fed to them since birth. I wonder if people would still believe in Santa Clause if they were told every sunday that he really does exist- and that he just had to give up the whole gift giving thing a long time ago because of a bad hip? There is no more evidence in the existence of God as their is in Santa Clause or the Easter Bunny- yet billions of people around the world still ardently believe He is real. I'm sorry, but I'm just going to need a little documentation on that- and no, the bible doesn't count. If you want to use the bible as proof that god exists, I can use "Jurassic Park" to prove that we've cloned Dinosaurs and they are alive and well on a tropical island in the Pacific, or I can refer to "Starwars" to prove to you that beyond a shadow of a doubt, Luke Skywalker really did kiss his sister a long time ago in a galaxy far far away.... I know there are still a lot of questions out there that we haven't been able to anwer, but I think Religion's track record on these things is spotty, at best. Earth created in seven days, 5000 years ago? Well, I think carbon dating has basically nixed that idea. Noah built an Ark to hold every animal on the face of the earth? Well, that would have been a pretty neat trick, don't you think? Especially considering it would have taken him over 100 years to collect all of them, even at the rate of loading 100 species every day. And the last time I checked, the Earth has been pretty much proven to rotate around the sun, not vice versa- and the Catholic Church sentenced Galileo to house arrest for the remainder of his life for believing otherwise. So in short, Praise Jesus- and all of that shit.
