Another one bites the dust

While I know I had promised to lay off of the political ranting on here, there is one thing I wanted to share with everyone that I found immensly disturbing. There had been grumblings from the Administration about all of the classified info that had been leaked from the CIA in the months leading up to the election- mainly to do with inteligence that the White House posessed that was never shared with the American public- mainly regarding the weapons of mass destruction claims. It seems that most people in the CIA knew all along there were never any weapons in the first place and were getting a little peaved that the White House was twisting the intelligence to suite their agenda for war. So since the Whitehouse wasn't being candid with the rest of the country, several people in the CIA broke rank and 'accidentally' started leaking this information out to the press. Rumors started flying about the head hunting that would be taking place in the CIA to force out those responsible for the leaks. Now, I am of the opinion that had the Administration used the intelligence responsibly, no one in the CIA would have been compelled to do this. Now that the election is over, there has been a flury of people resigning. I got a little curious as to just how many people had resigned in the past couple of years and here is what I found:

And that isn't even all of them. Now a little reshuffling of the deck usually happens right before a president begins their 2nd term, but what I find frightening is the sheer # of people who work for the CIA who have either been forced out or who felt compelled to quit. Abd contrary to what most people think, the CIA did their job in warning the president of 9/11- anyone who has read the commission report and can read between the lines realizes that. So these people aren't being forced out or quitting because they didn't do their job, they're being forced out because they didn't tow the company line. Now maybe its just me, but I really don't think this is the time to be purging the CIA of such a large chunk of its veternal personnel that have been dealing with terrorism for the past several years. Think of it as a football game and your opponent has the ball inside your red zone. Do you replace all of your starting defensive linemen when you're trying to make a goal line stand? I can't believe this administration is so petty as to put national security at risk just to get back at a handful of people who felt morally obligated to tell the truth to the American public.
