Cheney's night at the Improv

Oh MAN! This is too funny!!! I nearly blew coffee out of my nose when I read this:

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Vice President Dick Cheney said Thursday that he overestimated the pace of Iraq's recovery from the U.S.-led invasion because he didn't realize the lasting devastation wrought by Saddam Hussein on his people after the first Gulf War.
Asked to name his mistakes in planning the war in Iraq, Cheney said he had not anticipated how long it would take the Iraqis to begin running their own country. Not until after Saddam was ousted did the United States realize the extent of the Iraqi leader's brutality in putting down revolt in 1991, Cheney said.
"I think the hundreds of thousands of people who were slaughtered at the time, including anybody who had the gumption to stand up and challenge him, made the situation tougher than I would have thought," he said on "The Don Imus Show" on the radio.
"I would chalk that one up as a miscalculation, where I thought things would have recovered more quickly," Cheney said.
Cheney, interviewed hours before he was to take the oath of office for his second term, also said that Iran now tops the list of "the world's potential trouble spots."
Iran is pursuing "a fairly robust nuclear program" and has a history of sponsoring terrorism, he said. "That combination is of great concern."
Cheney said the Bush administration might seek U.N. sanctions against Iran over its nuclear program if necessary. The administration prefers to address the problem with diplomacy and doesn't want more war in the Middle East, he said.

MAN!!! These people are so fucking full of themselves that they are actually blaming the guy they overthrew for all the problems they're having dealing with Iraq after they overthrew him. WHAT THE FUCK!!?!? I guess logic is not one of their strong points. That would be like some guy saying, "The reason I am having so many problems taking care of myself now that I'm single is because of my bitch of an ex-wife...its all her fault!"
And the REAL punchline here is that the Bush Administration said that UN sanctions against Iraq were not working, that Hussein was developing nuclear weapons and needed to be dealt with forcefully. Well, now that they are confronted with a country that actually IS developing nuclear weapons, they say the want to use UN sanctions to deal with the problem. Now THAT is a joke. How can they be so hawkish against a country they suspected of developing nuclear weapons, and be so dovish when dealing with a country they know actully is? "Oh, we're not going to deal with THOSE terrorists- they're just too scary!"

So for those of you keeping score, this means one of two things: Either they quietly realize that they made a huge fucking mistake with Iraq and are getting their asses kicked for it, OR, the weapons thing in Iraq was only an excuse for invading. Personally, I am voting for the latter. If they were serious about staying the course and combating 'terrorism' with a big stick, they would be preparing to invade Iran right fucking now. Of course, even if they wanted to, they couldn't because all of out troops are bogged down in Iraq. Yup! Thats right- the only person to blame for all of this is Saddam Hussein- that dirty little mother fucker!
