sexy banners

I read in someones diary this morning about how she noticed all of the banners shes seen touting the posters gayness, lesbianism, etc etc etc. I thought to myself, man, shes right- there are a lot of banners out there that mention the persons sexual preference. I then proceeded to look into the comments section of her diary to read the posts people had written in response to her entry and my jaw dropped:

Oh brother - that is such an old, tired, cliche thing to say. What, did you hear some right wing dumbass rhyme that one off and you thought you'd appropriate it? Dude - at least be original with your prejudice!

how on earth is it odd? i think it's a little more odd that people do think this is odd. i make no sense but i dont care. i am gay and somehow i find this entry offensive. i can't describe it because im too tired. "gays" are normal people, it doesn't matter what sexual stuff they are into. what's it matter who they tell? if they want to tell, then they will. it's like if you want to announce you just got a new doll or something, whatever, if you chose to voice it, then it's all right isn't it? but no, "gays" aren't allowed to write/do/say what they want because they're different. what a load of shit.

What is wrong with these people? Cant someone make a simple, TRUTHFUL observation without being torn into? I can say that the majority of crimes are perpetrated by blacks, but it doesnt make me a racist- Im just stating a fact. Of course, if I WERE to say it, Im sure there would be people out there who would think I am racist, but of course they are just looking for something to get angry about. The fact of the matter is there ARE a lot of banners out there that broadcast to anyone looking that the poster is indeed, gay. And simply because this person felt compelled to comment on that, she is automatically insulting gays. That really pisses me off. If anything, these people should be getting pissed at the people who use their sexual orientation as a marketing ploy. And yes, that is exactly what it is. People throw the word lesbian or bi or gay onto their banner to garner attention. That is the point of having a banner- to get other people to notice you. Im not saying its a bad thing- I really dont give a shit. I actually found it rather funny- shortly after I read this persons entry, I saw a banner that said, Come for the lesbians- stay for the funny. People that put up banners such as this are purposely touting their sexuality to entice people to click on their banner and read their diary. That being said, Im sure that people who are gay or bi or whatever, feel different and alone at times and would like to find other people out there who can sympathize- and thats great. However, it doesnt change the fact that they are using their gayness to get other people to read. How many times have you been tempted to click on a banner that said, Im straight? My guess would be never. These people know that being gay or being bi makes them different, and they exploit that difference to get attention. Assholes like this Shelly person are stirring up shit for the sake of stirring up shit. I wish shed left a link to her diary, the stupid bitch. This leads me to another point- people who broadcast that their diary is full of sex. ARGH! Sex sells, and gay and bi sex sells ever better. Everyone knows that sex is an important part in (most) peoples lives, but it isnt the ONLY thing. I came across a diary last week called i-love-sex.diaryland.com. I didnt look through very much of it, but yes, it was basically all about sex. So is this person a porn star? Is their entire existence based on sex? I would argue that it is not, but she knows shell get more readers if she writes about sex a lot. I will be the first to admit that I enjoy reading about it, but it gets a little dull if you dont know anything else about the person. I just get sick and tired or people using sex as a tool to attract attention to themselves- be they gay, bi, straight, or into group sex involving Smuckers strawberry jelly. But hey- if that is the only part of your life that you think is interesting or worthwhile, who am I to argue?
