How Stella got her groove trampled in the mud

Part of me truly feels sorry for this woman, but man oh man, did I laugh my ass off when I read this: Terry McMillan, author of "How Stella Got Her Groove Back," filed for divorce from the man who inspired her to write the book. She met the guy in Jamaica several years ago, and fell deeply in love with him. So great was their love and life-affirming was their relationship, that she was compelled to write a book about it. Well, after 6 years of marriage, theyre calling it quits. Why, you may ask? What could possibly have happened to a love so great and profound that it was made into a hit motion picture? Well, for starters, hes gay. Yeah, I guess it turns out he faked the whole thing in order to gain US citizenship. See ladies? Youre not the only ones who can fake it. Now if youre thinking what Im thinking, youre disgusted that someone would go through such a deceitful charade for over six years and pray on someones emotions and trust just to stab them in the back after theyve gotten what you wanted. But it gets even better: McMillan is seeking to have the marriage annulled, while Plummer (her gay husband) has asked the court to set aside a prenuptial agreement that would prevent him from getting spousal support. Damn, that takes some balls! Not only did he completely use her to gain US citizenship, he signed a pre-nup and now wants to have it set aside so he can get money out of the women hes been lying to for the past 6 years. THAT, boys and girls, is the epitome of a selfish bastard. Someone get this guy an Academy Award! Either he is an incredible actor, or Terry McMillan is a really poor judge of character. So I do feel really sorry for her. I mean, this has got to be really humiliating for her. At the same time though, I cant stop chuckling. See, Im a guy, and guys find books/movies like that to be completely cheesy and basically full of crap. Guys sit back and watch that drivel because were forced to by our girlfriends or our wives. All the while were rolling our eyes and thinking to ourselves, This is the most unbelievable pile of garbage Ive ever laid eyes on. We think those things because we KNOW that guys just arent that nice- they arent that perfect. I dont mind watching a romance movie, but at least make the characters believable! Give them some flaws, make them say or do the wrong thing from time to time. Women watch movies or read books like Stella and are duped into thinking that the perfect guy really does exist. So in short, I laugh at poor Terry because finally, after inadvertently spewing lies to millions of women across the globe, she finally discovered the truth that men are indeed, pigs. Unfortunately for her, she found out the hard way.
