Why I hate Bush (the presidential variety)

"Let's say you tried to have an election and you could have it in three-quarters or four-fifths of the country. But in some places you couldn't because the violence was too great," Rumsfeld said at a Senate Armed Services Committee hearing. "Well, so be it. Nothing's perfect in life, so you have an election that's not quite perfect. Is it better than not having an election? You bet," he said.

Is this administration fucking crazy!?!! Its no wonder everyone over there loathes Americans..... this is the 'democracy' that we brought to them- inprisoning and torturing their citizens, and then not letting part of the population even have a chance to vote in a national election. Nice. I just have one question for you- how accepting would we be of our president if he were elected, but say, the entire state of California wasn't allowed to vote? I'm pretty damn sure at the least, people in Califirnia would be more than a little pissed... So if they hold elections in January, but segments of the country can't vote, do you think they're going to put any credence into who gets elected? Of course not! Whoever it is will be viewed as a puppet of the US- just like Allawi. And when the person running your country is viewed as a puppet of the country who invaded you, I don't think you're going to like him that much. And furthermore, I don't think you're going to like the country that invaded you, either. So I am just curious as to how ANYTHING we're doing over there is helping fight terrorism? The way I see it, what we're doing is ENCOURAGING it.
Besides, its been known for quite some time that most people in that part of the world don't really understand (or want) democracy. That is a very western word- Democracy. People over their are so tied up in religion that it makes Democracy impossible. What they DO understand is complete resolve and determination for what it is you believe in. They BELIEVE that we are the bad guys, and will do anything and everything to fight us. And then there's us. Do you think you'd be able to convince many of the national guard marines, who never thought they'd actually see combat, to walk into a building as a suicide bomb? I doubt it. But that is what they are willing to do. They are willing to do more than we are, and that is why we're going to lose. If we were serious about this- I mean REALLY serious- we would have 3 times the # of troops on the ground. But we can't because that would bring back the draft, and that would kick Bush out of office. So our only option is to watch more and more of Iraq and Afghanistan fall into the hands of wardlords- breeding grounds for terrorists. You got us into this bullshit war to begin with, you fuckin jackass. Now the least you can do is suck it up and admit you lied and fucked up, send over more troops and get this shit DONE, or you need to concede defeat and bring the troops back. But you don't have the balls to do that because you know your ass would be back in Crawford Texas. This is a FUCKING WAR, you idiot. People are dying over there every day- people from this country who put their faith in you. And you, with you're arrogant ambivalence, aren't taking this seriously. Well guess what- the Iaqi's are, and they've got more will and determination than you obviously do- all you care about is your job. And as a result, we've lost. When you admit that you can't hold free elections in a country that you supposedly took over with "mission accomplished" pomp and circumstance, you admit that you've lost. So I guess in a way, Rumsfeld, with his idiot press remarks, seems to at least realize they fucked up, albeit in a really stupid way. Congrats, boys. Four more years! Four more years!
